We’ve already seen how current laws re: screening of applicants hasn’t being fully enforced during the Bush years; now the law that enables verification appears to be allowed to expire! We here at IA have a series of posts coming that explore the “community” being formed comprised of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico and the area of proposed changes in immigration policy is one aspect that is front and center. TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT U.S. EMPLOYMENT
The E-Verify Program, on which businesses across the country relies to screen employment of illegal aliens expires this Friday, March 6. E-Verify has been in use since 1997 by businesses nationwide – but Congress appears to be ‘hoping’ Americans won’t notice that they removed the extension of this regulation from the “Stimulus Plan” and the issue has been ignored and screened out of Mass Media news coverage. Though the House voted to extend this measure for 4 years last last November, the Senate dropped that extension down to just 4 months. Clearly this demonstrated advance planning. Then the Conference Committee completely removed E-Verify from the Stimulus Plan – while spending a fortune on frivolity!
E-VERIFY, highly recommended, online, by “Smart Business Practice” is supervised by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration. It has been in existence since 1997, used by tens of thousands of employers across the country with millions of inquiries each year.
Ironically the Department of Homeland Security website still is posting E-VERIFY as MANDATORY for Federal contractors and subcontractors as of May 12 2009. New Director, Janet Napolitano, has not even bothered to update her Department’s website to the fact that E-VERIFY HAS JUST BEEN QUIETLY KILLED! The only known criticism of E-VERIFY (by Socialist-leaning groups, of course) is that the system is not perfect because sometimes the Data Base makes an error, so that is unfair.
How many times have we heard on TV that the new “Stimulus Plan” may not be “perfect” but we need to do something?! YET THE SAME RULERS IN WASHINGTON WANT TO DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT HIRING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS TAKING JOBS AWAY FROM AMERICAN WORKERS! Think of how the end of E-VERIFY will promote more illegals to flood our country to get jobs!
PLEASE HELP US SHOW WASHINGTON WE ARE PAYING ATTENTION and we are opposed to the hiring of illegal aliens.

I signed the petition. Hope it helps. I am also sending a emails to Steny Hoyer, Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin. It may not do any good because they usually follow the rest of the flock like good little sheep. Although, I did hear from one of the people I used to campaign with (before my awakening and resiging the party) that Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi aren’t seeing eye to eye on several things lately. Maybe he is starting to wake up, and maybe an email might make more difference than the ones I sent requesting that he not vote for the bail-out. We’ll see. Stranger things have happened.
lee, I had haerd the same thing about Steny and Ms Nancy. I hope there’s something to these rumblings.
I am going to take a ruler to my knuckles if my typing doesn’t improve. It is embarrassing to see my typos after the typing has been published.

If Burris ever casts a vote against obama, it’ll be a cold day in July – or maybe even August.
