I was listening to Trump on Saturday, July 16, with Mike Pence during the VP announcement and, at least a few times, it sounded like he was really huffing and puffing.
This was not the first time I’ve noted this. At times, he will gasp for breath.
Back in December 2015, Trump provided us with what was supposed to be a “medical report.” According a piece in The Daily Beast, the letter written by his doctor was greeted with…er, puzzlement.
DR. STRANGE

Trump’s Medical Report Is More Insane Than His Campaign Somehow
Donald Trump’s doctor released a medical report so silly that when we asked the American Medical Association about its language, their spokesman started to laugh.Donald Trump’s doctor appears to be just as bombastic as he is.
It’s the only conclusion to be drawn from a hilariously bizarre letter that the mogul’s doctor—Harold Bornstein—wrote about his yuuuugely terrific health. And the letter raises as many questions as it answers.
SNIP
“If elected,” Bornstein writes, “Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”
This is, of course, hooey. It’s embarrassing that a doctor even wrote it—unless, of course, Bornstein time-traveled to the 19th century to check on Millard Fillmore and William Henry Harrison. Reached for comment regarding this, a spokesperson at the American Medical Association just giggled.
They weren’t the only ones who found the comment perplexing.
“I don’t want to question Dr. Bornstein,” said Jeffrey Singer, a practicing general surgeon and adjunct scholar at the libertarian Cato Institute. “But doctors don’t usually say that kind of thing.”
“I could understand Donald Trump saying that, because that’s the kind of thing he says—just like he’s the smartest guy and the richest guy and all that,” Singer continued. “But doctors don’t usually make those kind of superlative comments.”
Unless, of course, you’re Donald Trump’s doctor.
This commentary should be read in full for the fun of it and the link is provided for the actual “bizarre letter.”
So, once again on Saturday, even my aging ears, which often miss what people are saying, picked up Trump’s labored breathing…does anybody else notice?
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the media isn’t picking up on this. I guess half of the media has been banned from covering Trump, of course, but it is OBVIOUS to me that he seems to be short of breath sometimes.
Wondering if it’s health related (heart? he takes low-dose aspiring and a statin… lungs?) or is it a sign of ANXIETY/STRESS??? This all started as a lark, remember, and now he’s the nominee!
For all his bluster, his red face, and racing speech, it’s the real shortness of breath that I am now listening for every chance I get. He may have cardiac issues that are under control, he may have allergies…but gasping for breath/hyperventilating may also be a symptom of STRESS.
Which begs the question: Can Trump actually handle real stress, when things are not quite fully in total control?
I have to wonder if he gets the nomination and at some point, suddenly drops out, citing health issues…even if not severe, it would be a perfect way to avoid being
President and giving up his freedom to do whatever he wants to do at any given moment.
Heck, there are so many bad deals to make, so many taxes to avoid, so many people to not pay, and that great plane with the gold fixtures that is waiting to whisk him over to one of his golf courses.
Why the hell would Trump want to be President?
As things get real after the formal nomination at the GOP Convention, let’s see how he breathes during his acceptance riff.
I will be watching with “bated breath” to see if he gasps at any point. And I will be looking as the campaign unfolds how his respiratory system reacts…at some point, maybe he will asphyxiate himself as he smothers in his torrent of toxic words…
