The House of Representatives sailed through HR 1388 (G.I.V.E  Act) this Wednesday  (3/18/2009) – without conscience or attention to consequence – in keeping with their voting record so far this year. A version of this measure is now in the hands of the Senate. If passed into law, it will put into place  Obama/Axelrod’s largest linchpin in their plan to take over our country and our society by taking over our youth (and even attempt to lure in our needy senior citizens) by “paying” them to co-operate.

The “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act” is Now before the Senate

Passed by the House of Representatives in a 321 to 105 vote yesterday, this G.I.V.E. Act should come as no surprise – within our current economic crisis and near bankrupt status being used – once again – by the Obama administration  as an excuse for the civilian-military force he spoke of during his campaign. At a start-up cost of $6 Billion dollars, what makes this quantum leap of youth re-education so critically urgent right now? The answer lies in the pages of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, which states:“The first step in community organization is community disorganization. “The disruption of the present organization is the first step toward community organization. Present arrangements must be disorganized if they are to be displace by new patterns…. All change means disorganization of the old and organization of the new.”

This video clip of Obama’s campaign pledge with a video reminds US of this misrepresented law’s potential impact. This sudden move by the new “Change” Administration for a rapid-fire, cloaked revision of our nation’s standards of  “Voluntary Service” has been swept under the rug of MainStream Media. Misc. section, #6104: (6) “ Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds” (by) “(C) involv(ing) an increasing percentage of students in secondary school and out-of-school youth in the community in school-based or community based service-learning activities each year, with the goal of involving all students in secondary schools served by the local educational agency and involving an increasing percentage of the out-of-school youth in service learning activities. It goes on to state: “Each program funded under this part shall be carried out over a period of three years, including one planning year and two additional grant years, with a 1-year extension possible, if the program meets performance measures developed in accordance with section 179(a) and any other criteria determined by the Corporation (AmericaCorps) . . with “Requirements” as follows: `It is the sense of Congress that the number of participants in the programs . . .  should grow to reach 250,000 participants by 2014” in service programs that combine the best practices of civilian service with the best aspects of military service, including leadership and team building, to meet national and community needs” It further states that the Director determines appropriate “Uniforms” with references to “camps” revised to “campuses.” There are also references to programs at even the elementary school level in SEC. 1201, though the specific contents and supervision of these programs remain unspoken.

COVERING UP THIS GIVE ACT IS THE REASON for all the intentionally-timed commotion on AIG. What they stand to gain on this National Service Laws rewrite is far greater than anything they lose on temporary criticism for their AIG conduct!

Get in the Mood…It’s SPRING!!

SPRING – THE VERNAL EQUINOX
At 7:44 AM EDT today–Friday, March 20th–the sun will be directly over the Earth’s equator, ushering in the Spring season.

After so many long and wearisome months commiserating with family, friends, and other bloggers about this past election cycle and the state of the economy, etc., –just the state of the world in general– today I decided to ditch it all for a few hours, at least, and sit out on the balcony and watch a couple of birds building a nest on a ledge.  Since there were two of them at it, I would imagine they might be house sparrows.  I didn’t try to get close enough to determine markings, but it didn’t matter.  What mattered was the fact that there were other species in our world who don’t know, or don’t care, who is president, who is in his cabinet, how many times he’s on television, or what type fashions his wife wears, or any of the other items the MSM decides to notice on any particular day.  They are only concerned with the renewal of life and a home in which to live it. (Thank goodness they don’t have to worry about a mortgage.) And Providence will more than likely provide their food. (There is a lady in this building who collects stale bread and cake and the like from the other residents (me included) to feed the birds.

But back to the birds building their nest.  They tirelessly fly back and forth to the surrounding ground and back to the ledge with a twig or bit of grass or some such thing, preparing the nest for a new life.

I see small buds on some of the bushes and ornamental trees that will soon be leaves and flowers, and I marvel at the rejuvenation going on about me.  Even the (ugh) insects are beginning to appear.  They too, have a part to play in the scheme of things.

There is a semi-wooded area behind this building and every day several deer can be seen milling about, sometimes leaping, but usually just ambling around.  I’ve seen as many as five at one time and think to myself, “how carefree they seem, enjoying a daily stroll unaware of the turmoil that is going on around them just a few yards away.”  Back in their wooded area it is like another world.  It’s amazing how little oases like this are still possible with all the building encroachment going on in the area.  I understand that the area behind this building is part of a good- sized estate and the owner is a conservationist, which explains why the wild life is inside the fence.  From one of my windows I can watch them and on the days I’m not lucky enough to catch sight of them I feel I’ve missed one of the best parts of my day.

There are several species of trees back there.  Both evergreen and deciduous, so there is some green all year long.  I’ve misplaced my binoculars, so for the time being I have to be content to watch from a distance, but I’ll replace them so as not to miss the birds back there.

It warms the soul to watch Mother Nature renew the world with the miraculous restoration of plant and animal life.  The pictures GRL has posted the last couple of weeks started me ruminating on this idea, and one thing led to another –Did you ever have a song go around and around in your head and just couldn’t let it go?  The idea of Spring and the renewal of life began this song in my head.  It has a special significance for me.  It’s Cat Steven’s “Morning Has Broken” – music by Cat Stevens with lyrics by Eleanor Farjean.

Vernal Equinox – (Spring Equinox) – “On March 20th, at precisely 7:44 AM EDT, the Sun will cross directly over the Earth’s equator. A Giant White Rabbit in Britain Reminds Us How “Logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead”…

I did not watch Obama’s gig last night before Congress, but the TV was on in the other room for a few moments and I heard lots of applause coming in waves.  As I walked through the room I caught a glimpse of Biden and Pelosi sitting like self-satisfied fat cats and saw Mr. Hopey Dopey up there orating, sans the stern, serious scowl.  Pundits seem to be saying that Bill Clinton must have convinced The One to stop the gloom and doom and it seemed like Obama was bouncing around and pumping out a sales pitch that one panel member on Hannity’s Great American Panel called “Reaganesque.”

It bugs the hell out of me to see Clinton all over the tube lately coaching the guy who supposedly had all the answers and the “best” campaign evah!

I have to say that the ultimate for me was seeing Jared Osmond, a lesser Osmond singer, opining on Hannity’s Great American Panel.  Where did they dig him up? And Caroline Heldman of Obama’s Occidental College, who seems to be around a lot today on FOX these days, says that all this spending is not a “socialist move” (nobody had even brought that suggestion up, why was she so defensive?).  Later she said that the speech would improve consumer confidence and that she hopes that “people who have good jobs will go out and eat twice a week instead of once a week”—doesn’t that sound like SPEND SPEND SPEND a la George W. Bush??

I’d also like to know why FOX chose to repeat the speech after Hannity and crew got off the air.  Seems so UN-Foxlike, doesn’t it?

And I was pretty peeved when I heard that the pilot who got that plane down safely in the Hudson River,  Chesley B. Sullenburger III, was trotted out.  OK, I know that he’s on the cover of People Magazine and was chatting with a committee on Capitol Hill yesterday.and has been in the spotlight…but, this guy trained for years and was a fighter pilot  and to see Sullenburger  used (and apparently liking it) by Obama the fraud, who has no real accomplishments and a hidden past, really ticked me off (this contrast was discussed in piece at  The Confluence at the time of the incident compared the pilot’s experience to Obama’s “flash to fame” based on zip and not in a nice way).

Frankly, so many people are so blinded by this con artist, courtesy of the media and the Obama PR machine (which Bill Clinton is now part of) that it is mind boggling.  It amazes me, but it shouldn’t since the setup has been so complete and the media has been so complicit.

I happened to find this story from Britain just after listening to this drivel and it got the “association” center of my brain rolling immediately.

Two police officers were given the run-around for 20 minutes in a low-speed pursuit of a giant white rabbit on the loose in a town centre.

Pcs Matt Jackson and Yasmin Mossadegh, of Kent Police, came across the two-foot long, 20lbs animal – the size of a small dog – hopping along a road in Canterbury at 2.20am on Sunday.

They admitted that at first it seemed like “something out of Alice in Wonderland”. But detaining the albino rabbit before it caused an accident proved to be more of a handful than they first thought.

Did you see the latest issue of Parade Magazine this past weekend?

Call me a cynic, but are we seeing the first salvo in the next campaign planned by the Obama Administration regarding health care?

I didn’t know who the people were on the cover, but when I took the time to read the story inside, it turned out that the story was about how the daughter of Obama’s guru David Axelrod and his wife Susan discovered and have coped with the serious epilepsy problems of their daughter, Lauren.   It’s part of a “Heroic Parents” series.  And, this story was followed up with an appearance on the Today Show on Monday (which I did not see).

When Susan Axelrod tells the story of her daughter, she begins like most parents of children with epilepsy: The baby was adorable, healthy, perfect. Lauren arrived in June 1981, a treasured first-born. Susan Landau had married David Axelrod in 1979, and they lived in Chicago, where Susan pursued an MBA at the University of Chicago and David worked as a political reporter for the Chicago Tribune. (He later would become chief strategist for Barack Obama’s Presidential campaign and now is a senior White House adviser.) They were busy and happy. Susan attended classes while her mother babysat. Then, when Lauren was 7 months old, their lives changed overnight.

The story goes into great detail about Lauren’s condition and her mother’s efforts to bring the serious problems created by epilepsy into the light and mentions then-First Lady Hillary Clinton’s help as  for the organization  founded by Susan Axelrod, CURE.

Susan began to meet other parents living through similar hells. They agreed that no federal agency or private foundation was acting with the sense of urgency they felt, leaving 3 million American families to suffer in near-silence. In 1998, Susan and a few other mothers founded a nonprofit organization to increase public awareness of the realities of epilepsy and to raise money for research. They named it after the one thing no one offered them: CURE–Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy.

“Epilepsy is not benign and far too often is not treatable,” Susan says. “We wanted the public to be aware of the death and destruction. We wanted the brightest minds to engage with the search for a cure.”

Then-First Lady Hillary Clinton signed on to help; so did other politicians and celebrities. Later, veterans back from Iraq with seizures caused by traumatic brain injuries demanded answers, too. In its first decade, CURE raised $9 million, funded about 75 research projects, and inspired a change in the scientific dialogue about epilepsy.

The efforts by Susan Axelrod are certainly wonderful, but I am so cynical about everything that comes out of anything connected to Obama that I had to wonder if this whole thrust–a big cover story followed up by the Today Show–is part of the campaign to sell the health care changes that are brewing.  First we had Daschle and the house parties, now we have changes to health care that will probably affect many seniors in possibly negative ways, and now this PR effort involving David Axelrod and his family.   But Axelrod isn’t the focus of this story, it is his wife and daughter. My skeptic sensor wonders if this is a way to put a “human face” on the mastermind behind what could be some pretty upsetting changes in the works.  Is it the Obama crowd’s “I feel your pain” moment??

I don’t know if you can call it “exploitation” of Lauren, who is 27 years old. But there is something here that makes me uneasy.  Because we’ve come to learn that there is NOTHING that the Obama crowd does that doesn’t have some purpose.  I think there is something else afoot.

Today I thought about how Obama trotted his girls out at that party which the press attended, and then “realized” after the fact that it might be “too much exposure” for them.  And all through the campaign there were the huge crowds, which we found out were partly due to opening rock bands, food and beer in some cases.  The whole Obama campaign has been one big PR blitz, aided by the mainstream media.

So pardon me if I have mixed feelings about this story on the Axelrods and epilepsy.  It’s great that there is some information put out there, but…

Coincidentally, Greta Van Susteren did another segment up in Alaska on last night which opened with Bristol Palin and her baby.  Sarah Palin came on and the discussion was about the difficulties of raising a child and how they are lucky to have a family willing to pitch in.  It was a very factual and real discussion.  But was it exploitation? All I know is that I didn’t get the creepy feeling I got after I started mulling over the Axelrod article.  The Bristol Palin part of the segment was over and done with fairly quickly(it was only a very small section of the full interview; full video below).

The interview went on to a discussion of the stimulus package which Gov. Palin framed in terms of how the states might be left holding the bag on future costs of expanded programs and how the bill was rushed to the floor even though most people hadn’t read it. She wondered about the rush to vote since the bill signing was delayed until Tuesday.  She said that she thought a bill that hadn’t been read or debated should be vetoed. She commented on the Fairness Doctrine and how someone had to be questioning the Administration and that silencing critics could be bad for our democracy. And she talked about a letter she had sent to Obama about energy policy that apparently has gotten some positive feedback.  She also stressed again about ultimately becoming energy independent and bringing renewable energy sources online and how she’s like Obama to visit to see what really is happening with energy in Alaska.  (This was the longest interview shown last night; see Sarah Palin Interview below.)

So there they are, two back-to-back family stories which lead back to politics. In the case of Palin, it was a straightforward interview with Bristol and then policy talk with the Governor (and a spot on the snowmobile race that Todd Palin finished in 6th place.  In the case of the Axelrod interview, it was full of painful detail with no OBVIOUS politics.

But, be forewarned. I really think it’s part of an unfolding plan…and a sneaky one at that.

So a few days ago, the news radio station here said that upon further study, the Obama plan suggests there could be as many as 4 million jobs created or saved.

WTF: Even I can “suggest”  that if someone lives a good life and invests in my brother’s business, s/he could earn a million dollars.

Are we now supposed to fall onto our knees when The One takes a breath? Are we expected to “believe” what The Messiah says or suggests ? My hands now automatically ball into fists when I hear the MSM say anything about this fraud. And when I hear His voice, I tremble – but not in awe – in rage.

Here’s what I KNOW:

…The university hospital where I work is terminating 200 positions this year. The university is terminating 5,000 positions this year. Right now, we have psychiatric social workers filling in for medical social workers in addition to filling their own spots. Is The One going to simply wave his magic hands and “save” us? The University of Chicago hospital where Michelle Obama worked so hard to send the indigent to other hospitals for treatment, is terminating hundreds of jobs. (I guess she didn’t close the door tightly enough.) And this is just one city in this amazing but faltering country of ours.

…Boeing (the headquarters is in Chicago) just announced they will be cutting another 4500 jobs (in the Seattle area).

But here’s a bright spot – the census bureau is hiring thousands for census-taking. It is announced the jobs could last hours, days, weeks or possibly months!

Glory-osky! The One is already saving all the Boeing, and hospital, and coal, and university displaced workers (DWs).

I know I cannot blame Obama for the economy. But I also know that he is a fraud and is willing to pull the rug out from under us all just to hear his name worshipfully whispered.

When I hear the people I know who are so excited about going to D.C. to “see” this historic event, and I know that they haven’t lived long enough to understand the man they adore is a poser, it is almost more than I can bear.

I only wish I had answers to the many complaints I have. Because I feel like a real nag. And I don’t like it.

As an aside: As you probably already know, the vote to impeach Gov. Blagojevich in the Illinois House was 114 – 1. There was one representative who voted… “Present”.

There is yet another Messiah coming down the pike!

University of Chicago hospital to trim 7% of budget

15 senior executive jobs cut; outreach, expansion said to be continuing

The University of Chicago Medical Center late Friday confirmed a massive restructuring that will trim $100 million in expenses, or nearly 7 percent of its annual budget, amid the economic downturn and unpaid bills owed the hospital from the state Medicaid program for the poor.

Initially, the hospital is eliminating 15 senior executive jobs, including vice president for community and external affairs, a position that had been [held] by incoming First Lady Michelle Obama. Her duties will be taken over by Dr. Eric Whitaker, a friend of her husband, President-elect Barack Obama, and a long-time executive vice president for strategic affiliations and external affairs.
