We really enjoy doing the “Saturday Sanity” post which gives us an excuse to talk about gardening and to post some pictures. But now we have to worry about whether we can even HAVE gardens!!

Read the details on HR 785 being pushed by Rep. Rose DeLauro (D-CT) who receives about 200K in PAC money from the agricultural industry has ties to Monsanto through her husband. Deadenders comments: “This bill creates a new government entity to police the production of all food in our county, not just the big farms but even your home garden. The language of the bill is as vague a campaign speech by Obama and once signed into law could be interpreted anyway the powers that be would like.”
We better enjoy them our gardens while we can!! Do you think Michelle Obama’s White House garden will be confiscated??

So Evan Bayh has formed his group of “moderate Democrats” that are supposed to be “practical” and full of “common sense.” If there’s one name that sticks out in all this, it’s the presence of Claire McCaskill of Missouri. Claire was a very strong supporter of Obama but lately has joined Russ Feingold as one of only two Democratic senators to oppose earmarks. Claire must be getting an earful from the folks back home in the “Show Me” state…or she’s a mole.

Well, surprise, surprise! All that federal money pouring into education is somehow getting distributed in ways that aren’t getting the cash to the places that need it the most. Apparently, old federal formulas are still in use and CHANGE hasn’t really happened:

But under the Obama administration’s education stimulus package, Mr. Lamborn, who needs every penny he can get, will receive hundreds of dollars less per student than will Dr. Bailey, who says he does not need the extra money.
“For us, this is just a windfall,” Dr. Bailey said.

This story reminds me of the story we reported last week about money going to Albuquerque and the new busses being bought with it being out of state and out of the country. Seems the stimulus money is wandering around without any real direction at all…Get a compass, quick!

That pledge from the soldiers is mind-boggling. One has to wonder why? Why do they feel such a strong need to state these kinds of things now? It’s a real vote of “no confidence” in their commander I’d say. And that is scary, to say the least.

I felt it was much more of an affirmation by the military to reassure those of us paying attention that they are also aware of the current coup d’etat are that when the time comes they will be on the side of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Their vote of no confidence in the usurper and Worst Congress Ever is a vote of confidence in America!
The question is–how organized do they really get? I mean, they don’t reflect all the army leaders, do they?…at this point, anyway.
If they really are going to “defend us”–who leads the way????

The only thing that will renew America is to get rid of Teh One and his cronies. And that includes most members of congress.
The day the gov’t is allowed to give us orders over what we grow in our own yards, is the day when I will gladly join the militia. Or try to form one if one doesn’t exist.
Seriously, this “Renew America Today” scheme has me very worried. He is trying to cover all the bases.

It needs to include all members of Congress. Until we send them the message that no one is safe, they will continue to rape and beat us. We must send them a resounding message that we are still in control of this nation. This is the movement we need to push if we want to save America! Forget about Obama – he is nothing but a distraction from the real agenda! Focus on getting every one you know and everyone you meet to understand that Congress is the problem. Everyone already hates Congress, and they can certainly understand that it is Congress that is spending their money like drunken sailors. An even an Obot can get behind tossing out the people that “are keeping Obama from fulfilling his campaign promises”. We have to start beating them at their own game!

Obama faked being ‘choked up with anger’ about AIG bonuses, and the MSM interpreted that as support for populist groups who were protesting.
Then, he emailed 14 million of his campaign supporters to flood their state representatives with emails etc. to stop bitching about it and go along with his program.

It’s one of the sites I noted in a post weeks ago…I should really put these Congress tracking sites in the sidebar…..and I will!
As busy and as popular as Trader Joes is — I believe that there would be an upraising/revolt if Organic was made illegal.
“Trader Joe” is a large chain — mostly in the west and south west. I seek out this food chain because it has less fructose (high fructose corn syrup) and other things I don’t want in my food.
Arizona seems to have a Trader Joes every two blocks.
NM has fewer — mostly up north in the two larger cities.
The best way to make people realize what they have is to try to take it away — growing our own food is well — very American. England tried to tell the colonies what they could and couldn’t grow — and that worked out really well for King George.
We need to take to a hint from that…
Really suprised to see Ms Obama start an old-school garden that wastes water, offers poor yields, promotes topsoil erosion, and reduces oxygen producing grass.
Its a shame that they didn’t read on modern gardening and install a nice square-foot garden. A square-foot garden uses 20% of the space and 10% of the water of a traditional garden, but with 100% of the yield. Not to mention they look far nicer.
Its much easier to convince Americans to install a 3- or 4-foot box of food than the monstrosity they’re building in the South Lawn. Especially since theres no digging or tilling involved.
Also, the WH garden is not organic as it doen’t meet federal standards for organic. Use of the the term organic by the WH is likely a violation of federal law.

I do basically a square foot garden. Nice raised beds, about 10 x 8 +. I use a planting method adapted from Dick Raymond, basically square foot ( ie, peppers a foot apart in a 1-2-1 pattern….use a buried soaker hose at the roots to conserve water…
In the desert, the close plants do help with shading each other…plus I use a sunshade…use all my own compost and NO PESTICIDES! And rotate crops as best I can in such a small space.
I produce food all year round now…and freeze things like grapes and peppers, even whole tomatoes!
