Michelle Obama under fire for not wearing black designer
January 26, 2009The usually celebrated sartorial splendor of First Lady Michelle Obama is coming under fire by a former runway model upset that Obama didn’t wear an inaugural design by a black fashion designer.
Amnau Eele, co-founder of the Black Artists Association, told fashion industry publication Women’s Wear Daily she plans to “file a formal appeal” with Michelle Obama’s office about the lack of a black designer.
“It’s fine and good if you want to be all ‘Kumbaya’ and ‘We are the World’ by representing all different countries,” Eele is quoted as saying at wwd.com, the magazine’s Web site. “But if you are going to have Isabel Toledo do the inauguration dress, and Jason Wu do the evening gown, why not have Kevan Hall, B Michael, Stephen Burrows or any of the other black designers do something, too?”

Seriously…..is EVERYTHING going to revolve around “black” now? And who gives a rat’s ass about what michevil wore?
I don’t care what Michelle wears. I just think it is amusing. She invites this kind of attack – she is so for black people, etc. – not.
Back in the pre-post-racial days, about 35 years ago, I was a model, working with a racially mixed group of fashion models. I was the white model for a TV segment on show with a black commentator, featuring the outfits of a black woman designer.
Not sure what to make of all that; just seems ironic to me.
Probably no self respecting black designer wanted the “honor” of dressing the First Lady of Your Grandmother’s Sofa, especially after that Black Widow Spider number!

As much as I appreciate and enjoy your posts, it will be good to hear from Kenosha Marge again. Her tales always have a twist that none other can duplicate. Her humor and dry wit are good for what ails you.
I remember your past articles on Tom Daschle. Did you have your crystal ball beside you when you wrote them? Obama is very saddened that Mr. Daschle withdrew his nomination. I’ll Bet Tom still has the imprint of Obama’s foot on the seat of his pants.
Whooeee it sure is getting crowded under this bus.

Well, signing in each time is a security measure, I guess. My former friend had to do it for some reason a long time ago, while I was still able to sign in to my main address then navigate to other boxes without signing in and out.
So, now, it’s back to what it was when I had dial-up and only 2 boxes….3 times the pain!!!
And Mail.com is either busy or just has decided to mess up my password…so that option isn’t working well as a back-up at the moment, just in case I need it again!
