“The Night Before Fitzmas” (Or… “A Visit from Saint Fitz”)

Adapted by InsightAnaltytical-GRL from the poem by Clement C. Moore

…on the occasion of the arrest of Rod Blagojevich and John Harris …and in “HOPE” of  what may transpire in the future…

***

‘Twas the night before Fitzmas, when

all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a

mouse;

The stockings of PUMAs hung by the chimney

with care,

In hopes that St. Fitz would soon safely be

there;

The PUMAs were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of indictments danced in

their heads;

And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled our brains for a long

winter’s nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a

clatter,

I sprang from my bed to see what was the

matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the

sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen

snow

Gave the luster of mid-day to objects

below,

When what to my wondering eyes should

appear

But a miniature arrest warrant, and many  politicians

in fear,

With a little old driver, holding a sackful of

writs

I knew in a moment it must be St. Fitz.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they

came,

And he whistled, and shouted and called

them by name:

“Now, OPRAH! now, JESSE! now, DONNA and WRIGHT

On, HOPEY! on, GROPEY*, on Rahm and  even Teddy IN SIGHT!

To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away

all!

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane

fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount

to the sky,

So up to the house-top the coursers they

flew,

With a sleigh full of warrants, and dear old Fitz, too.

And then, in a twinkling I heard on the

roof

The prancing and pawing of each little desperate

hoof.

As I drew in my head, and was turning

Around,

Down the chimney St. Fitz came with

a bound.

***

He spoke not a word, but went straight to

his work,

And filled PUMA hearts, then turned

with a jerk

Then laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a

whistle

And away they all flew like the down of a

thistle.

He was off to bring a sentence to Rezko in

his cell

And for Rod, Harris, Daley and Obama,

who  now can tell?

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out

of sight

“Happy Fitzmas to all, and to all a good-

night….”

  8. Hi GRL,

This is a fabulous post. I haven’t had time to catch up on all the news yet, but it seems as if Fitz has been really busy. Hope he gets to keep his position long enought to clean house all the way around. Hope springs eternal.

    BTW, I love the snow.

  9. P.S., I do so envy your expertise and creativeness. I wish I was half as gifted. Keep it up !!

  10. Gifted? Just off my meds…LOL!!!!

  11. You are too funny, GRL!! Thanks for this!!

  12. May I post this on Say What You Will?

  13. MERRY FITZMAS ! !

    IA…check your email for news.
    Marge… check yours, too

    GG and AM lassie.
I don’t have your addys at work. I’ll get you later……..

  14. Excellent!!

  15. I forgot to say how much I like the snow too Grl. Even after shoveling another 4 inches this morning.

I too admire your expertise. I can’t even keep my Susan B. Anthony avatar from disappearing all the time. Then this morning, when I tried to post and comment, for the umpteenth time at NQ I not only posted successfully but there was Susan B.

But she hadn’t shown up anywhere else. I keep going back to wordpress and inserting her again and again and then she’ll drop in for a while and then disappear again. Grrrrrrrrrr

  16. Never mind.

  17. LADIES!!! Here you go–info about the Bloggers Conference:

Please pass this info on to every blogger you know that may be interested. I want to bury Bambi!

  18. Marge,

The new Word Press has many of us throwing fits. Stick with it – maybe they’ll get the bugs worked out soon.

  19. IA — GROPEY priceless… I too now have good hopeful visions in my head … probably nothing will come of this but at least I’ll be happy for Christmas 🙂

BTW, finally read the whole piece on Obama’s use of hypnosis…
very interesting and explains a lot, especially his strange cadence and body language. Also, makes me understand a bit more why I could see through his BS; for one, I read political speeches to take notes, and for two, I grew up immersed in really radical churches (cult-like actually) after conversion from Catholicism, so had experience with a lot of these types of behaviors (mass manipulation through emotion, etc.). And any Christian (especially Protestant) knows that it is absolutely *sacrilegious* to call anyone other than Jesus, the messiah. The only other messiah that will come to earth is the anti-messiah, the anti-Christ. The special on PBS about the first Christians reminded its viewers well of this.

Sorry to hand on an unhappy note. Must reread of St. Fitzmas coming

  20. That’s too funny!!!

  21. “Oh Hopey, oh, Gropey” – I am crying here! Brilliant!
    Merry Fitzmas, everyone!

  22. Hear, hear to “Gropey” – Priceless!
